I’m thrilled I finally got to see HEEL for the first time! They packed a hell of a lot of aggression into their 11 minute set. They ripped through their songs with the force and relentless momentum of a freight train. An onslaught of distorted guitars, thudding bass, pugilistic drums, vicious vocals. Their pugnacious performance was fittingly bookended by two quick hits on the bell of the ride, signaling the start and end of the round. We were on our feet at the start and fully floored by the end. Looking forward to seeing them again at the Shanty on the penultimate Friday in July (07/24/2026).
Death metal bands Bloodspire and Incantation Ritual were also on the bill that night, but regrettably I had to high tail it out of there in deference to an early morning at work.
